Amazon’s Swift and Supportive Customer Service: A True Testimonial

Amazon’s Swift and Supportive Customer Service: A True Testimonial

In today's fast-paced world, where time and trust are of immense value, Amazon has truly set a benchmark in Customer service and logistics. Their efficiency in resolving delivery issues and promptly supporting Customers showcases why they are a global leader in e-commerce.

Recently, I had a real-life experience that highlighted Amazon’s commitment to Customer satisfaction. I had ordered a product which, due to a bit of confusion, was delivered to another watchman in my residential complex. When I checked with the watchman on duty, he denied receiving any Parcel. Concerned about the missing package, I immediately reached out to Amazon’s Customer support.

To my pleasant surprise, Amazon took instant action. They quickly connected with the delivery partner, initiated an investigation, and kept me updated throughout the process. Their responsiveness and clear communication stood out during the entire episode.

Interestingly, a few hours later, the other watchman—who was not on duty at the time—returned and handed over the Parcel. It was a relief to receive it, but what left a lasting impression was Amazon’s genuine concern and proactive service, even before the matter was fully resolved on my end.

Such experiences remind us that it's not just about receiving products; it’s about the trust and support you get during unexpected situations. Amazon’s ability to act swiftly, connect with the Right stakeholders, and maintain transparency is what makes their Customer service exemplary.

Their dedication to making every Customer feel valued is truly commendable.

How Publishers Scam Authors: Hidden Fees, Fake GST & Unpaid Royalties

How Publishers Scam Authors: Hidden Fees, Fake GST & Unpaid Royalties

The dream of becoming a Published author is cherished by many. Whether it’s your first poetry book, novel, or professional guide, seeing your name in print is a proud moment. But for thousands of aspiring writers, that dream quickly turns into a financial and emotional nightmare—thanks to unethical Publishers who specialize in exploiting authors.

Here's a deep dive into how some Publishers scam authors and what you can do to Protect yourself.

1. Unnecessary Publishing Packages and Inflated Fees

Many vanity or self-Publishing companies lure authors in with the promise of easy Publication. But soon, they start pushing expensive "Publishing packages" that charge for editing, designing, ISBN numbers, and distribution—services that are often poorly executed or already free via Public platforms.

These packages can Cost anywhere between ₹20,000 to ₹2,00,000 or more, with little to no transparency about the actual Costs involved. What’s worse? The quality often doesn’t match the price.

2. Fake or Inflated GST Charges

Some Publishers add hefty GST charges that are either inaccurately calculated or never actually paid to the government. Authors rarely receive proper invoices or GST numbers, making it impossible to verify legitimacy.

If a Publisher is charging GST but refuses to give a proper tax invoice with their GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number), it’s a major red flag.

3. Delayed or Nonexistent Royalty Payments

One of the biggest complaints from authors is that they either never receive royalties or receive tiny, unexplained amounts without any sales reports. Publishers often avoid giving proper documentation or say vague things like:

  • “Your book didn’t sell enough this quarter.”

  • “We’ll process it next month.”

  • “We only pay when you reach a threshold.”

In reality, some Publishers keep all the earnings and provide no transparency or proof of book sales.

4. Manipulative Contracts

Unscrupulous Publishers often include tricky clauses in their contracts, like:

  • No clear royalty percentage

  • Rights over your content for multiple years

  • Hidden cancellation fees

Many authors sign without legal consultation and later find they can’t get their rights back or switch Publishers.

5. No Real Distribution or Marketing

Despite promising worldwide availability and aggressive marketing, most of these Publishers do little more than listing your book on Amazon or Flipkart. Real marketing—like targeted promotions, bookstore placements, author events, or PR—is rarely provided.

How to Protect Yourself as an Author:

Research the Publisher thoroughly. Look up reviews, past authors, and complaints.
Ask for a sample contract and read every clause.
Request real-time sales data and GST invoices.
Avoid large upfront payments.
Talk to other authors who have worked with them.
Consider Publishing through transparent platforms like Amazon KDP, Notion Press, or traditional routes.

Writers pour their heart and soul into their books. No one deserves to be scammed for following their passion. As an author, awareness is your first line of defense. Always prioritize transparency over tempting promises. If something feels off, it probably is.

From Vision to Victory: Goal Setting and Action Planning That Works Shraddha Hegde life coach

From Vision to Victory: Goal Setting and Action Planning That Works Shraddha Hegde  life coach

Many people dream of success, but few turn those dreams into reality. As a life coach, I’ve seen countless clients struggle with ambition without direction, motivation without structure, and desire without execution. The missing link? A well-crafted action plan that creates measurable progress.

When setting goals, the focus shouldn’t just be on where you want to go, but also on how you’ll get there—step by step.

1. Define the Goal with Precision

Imagine setting out on a road trip without a destination. You’d probably drive in circles! The same applies to goal setting. Instead of vague aspirations like:
🚫 "I want to be more confident,"
try:
"I will initiate conversations with three new people each week for the next month."

By making goals specific, clear, and actionable, they become easier to follow.

2. Reverse Engineer the Path to Success

Many clients feel overwhelmed because their goals seem too big to conquer. The solution? Break it down.

Take a goal like:
🎯 "I want to start a coaching business within a year."

We break it into:
🔹 Month 1: Research business structures, define niche
🔹 Month 2: Set up website and branding
🔹 Month 3: Create a content strategy and launch a first offer
🔹 …and so on.

Every big win is a series of small victories.

3. Track Progress Like a Scientist

If we can’t measure it, we can’t improve it. Keeping track of weekly progress allows us to:
✔️ Identify what's working
✔️ Adjust strategies when needed
✔️ Celebrate small wins to stay motivated

I encourage clients to maintain a progress journal or use tracking tools to visualize their journey. Seeing progress, no matter how small, builds momentum.

4. The Magic of Accountability

People often stick to goals when they know someone is watching. That’s why accountability is a game-changer.

Ways to stay accountable:
🔹 Partner with a coach or mentor
🔹 Join a mastermind group
🔹 Set deadlines with consequences or rewards

When clients know they have to report back, they’re far less likely to procrastinate!

5. Action Over Perfection

Many people fail to reach their goals not because they lack talent, but because they wait for the "perfect time." The truth? There’s no perfect time. The best time to start is now.

Even if the first steps feel small, messy, or uncertain, action creates clarity. Each step forward reveals the next one.

Final Thoughts: From Dreamer to Doer

Successful people don’t just dream—they plan, execute, and adjust. Whether it’s building confidence, growing a career, or transforming a mindset, progress comes from clear goals and intentional action.

The question isn’t “Can I achieve this?”
It’s “What’s my next step?”

If you’re helping others (or yourself) with goal setting, what strategies have worked for you? Drop your thoughts in the comments!

Self-Publishing in India: A Cautionary Tale for Debut Authors

Self-Publishing in India: A Cautionary Tale for Debut Authors

India offers a wide range of self-publishing companies, each with diverse packages tailored to suit different needs and budgets. At first glance, this seems like a blessing for debut authors. However, my own journey through this landscape revealed the darker side of self-publishing—a path filled with misleading promises, hidden pitfalls, and costly mistakes.

The Harsh Reality Behind the Scenes

While many self-publishers in India promise an easy and successful publishing experience, the reality often falls far short. Based on my personal experiences, here are some of the common issues authors face:

  • Substandard Services: The quality of publishing rarely matches what was promised in the package.

  • False Sense of Ease: The publishing process seems smooth—until you make the advance payment. After that, communication and support often disappear.

  • Restrictive Packages: Most packages are filled with limitations, offering very little flexibility.

  • Undisclosed Book Pricing (MRP): Publishers often fail to disclose the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) before publication, leaving authors in the dark.

  • Lack of Transparency: The team behind the publishing house remains faceless—no names, no contact numbers, no way to reach them once issues arise.

  • Weak Online Presence: Many self-publishing companies have poorly maintained websites and minimal online credibility.

  • Slow Distribution: Even after publication, book distribution is sluggish and inefficient.

  • No Marketing Support: Despite promises, there's little to no help with marketing or promotional efforts.

  • Unreliable Sales Reports: Sales data, if provided at all, is often vague or completely missing.

  • Zero Post-Publication Support: Once your book is published, you're essentially left on your own.

Lessons Learned

As a debut author, it's easy to get excited and rush into agreements. I made the mistake of trusting these companies without thorough research—and paid the price.

And the journey has only just begun.
